Mark Rylance tackles Beckett

The last time I saw Mark Rylance he was on stage, raising hell as Johnny Byron, the wild man of the woods, in Jez Butterworth’s Jerusalem . It was a superb performance, one that began each night with Rylance plunging his head into a butt of cold water, then mixing a grisly cocktail of raw egg, milk and vodka and swigging it down in one.
