There are, apparently, 2,500 shows at the Edinburgh Fringe this year. From the huge number of emails I have received over the past month, from budding actors, writers, comics, directors et al, I would have put it at 25,000. One trend is the number who kick-started their careers on the internet and social-networking sites.
