Alvin Ailey died in 1989, but the company that bears his name, one of America's most popular modern dance troupes, is still fixed firmly in its creator's image. This British tour will include new works, but opened with an all-Ailey programme, including too many dated ballets. It's left to the dancers, and to Ailey's megahit Revelations, to lift the evening.
