Nato should not offer a free ride to parasites

'Inexcusable and unforgivable". The words of the coroner are apt. He was summing up the role of the Ministry of Defence in the death of Captain James Philippson, killed fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan. After hearing the evidence, the coroner stated that Capt Philippson died because of a failure by the Ministry of Defence to provide essential equipment. His words were echoed by Capt Philippson's father, who simply stated that "the Treasury and the then chancellor, Gordon Brown, are really to blame for what happened. The MoD was starved of cash by Gordon Brown."
