Apologies missing as RBS board defends decision

Sir Tom McKillop started Royal Bank of Scotland’s annual meeting with an apology. But any shareholders who travelled to Edinburgh hoping RBS’s chairman would say sorry for the bank’s writedowns and record £12bn rights issue will have been disappointed.
