BBC boss defends 'crazy' £14.3million pay packet for his 'fat controllers'

BBC director general Mark Thompson was today fighting to defend the exorbitant £14.3million pay packages of 50 of his top 'fat controllers'. Thompson, who is already under fire for the corporation's slow handling of the Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand phone scandal, desperately tried to explain the profligate spending on salaries. It was revealed that the corporation spends £14.3million of licence fee payers money on paying just 50 managers, more than half of which are paid more than the Prime Minister on £250,000 a year.
