Cineastes in the dark

The French have drawn up a list of the top 100 films ever made, and not one is British. Making lists of the best films is a fine game, but are the French playing by the Rules of the Game? (La Règle du Jeu happens to come second.) There is a strong Gallic flavour to the list drawn up by Cahiers du Cinéma. Most people like French cuisine, but these days they like food from all round the world, too.
