Iraq fallout prominent on Orwell prize longlist

A strong focus on the war in Iraq characterises the books in the running for this year's Orwell prize for political writing, with Philippe Sands's meticulous investigation into interrogation techniques at Guantánamo Bay, Torture Team, up against Patrick Cockburn's depiction of the one of the most crucial players in the war, Muqtada al-Sadr and the Fall of Iraq.
